2012 has seen continued growth in the number of permanent placements in private practice. The traditional “Top Tier” practices continue to seek experienced solicitors (3-5 years PQE) across a number of areas to include Funds, Asset Management, Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, Competition and Regulatory, Corporate and Commercial Litigation. “ Mid Tier” firms as well as boutique commercial practices are in a stronger position to hire now than in the previous 18-24 months. Solicitors with a Corporate background and direct experience advising clients in the Telecommunications, Information and Communications Technology, Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industries are in a very strong position to make a move in 2012.
Salary survey
In recent months we have recruited Corporate Insurance solicitors for a number of private practice and industry clients. This trend looks set to continue given the demand for solicitors with regulatory experience which is a direct result of the Financial Services changing legislative landscape and the Central Bank of Ireland’s requirements. Solicitors with Funds and Asset Management experience remain in high demand as Ireland continues to grow its reputation as an extremely attractive location.
We remain cautiously optimistic for increased opportunities for experienced solicitors in Ireland for the remainder of 2012. Although the European Commission has lowered its growth forecast for Ireland in 2012 from 1.9% to 1%, saying that the country’s growth prospects have weakened due to the poor macro-economic environment there remains a constant demand for skilled and experienced legal advisors in private practice and in-house.
